Fashion Faux Pas Men Make (And Women Hate)

We’ve seen a lot of milestones in the men’s fashion world over the course of many years. But with this huge responsibility comes some truly striking cruelty against fashion. Some men out there play it off like they don't care about the way they carry themselves, but let us be the first to say it: we do! And hey, we get it. Most of you do not have the disposable income to go donning Armani or Rolex. But the truth is, you don’t need a huge paycheck to look great.

So, here is the compilation of terrible fashion faux pas to be ever committed, be it by a mortal or a celebrity.

Ill-Fitting Suits

No one cares whether your suit is Burberry or Brioni or even if it’s your Dad’s. One should always have a custom-tailored suit which fits you perfectly. There are numerous ways to make a statement without looking like a molten rubber while your trousers puddle over your shoes and pads of your jackets falling over the brink of your shoulders. The trousers (whatever the style is) should only touch the tops of your shoes, and there should be not at all bunching of the fabric.

V-neck shirts are appreciated as they’re classic and versatile. But it’s time to re-think about your style if your deep V-neck shirts are showing your hairy cleavage in public. Rather opt for Henley t-shirts as they are the perfect alternative for classic T-shirts.

The reign of skinny, floppy and pointless ties should be over ASAP! A tie represents a man’s fashion wisdom and wearing neck strings like that of scouts is proving otherwise. Your tie and your jacket lapels should be roughly the same width.

The Job Stopper is the term given to an exposed tattoo on an area of your body which ensures that any future employer will question your sanity. We’re not against tattoos but if you’re going to get them, try and be a little undercover so that you don’t end up looking like a mafia.

Trust me you are not being taken seriously if you are wearing these low-rise sagging pants. They are not only making you look like a frat boy but they can be a source of your embarrassment as everyone can see which brand of underwear you prefer!

Runners with Formals

No one said that looking dapper was going to be easy but you can NOT break the rules by wearing sports shoes or runners with your work suit. They just don’t go together. The sole purpose of runners is for running and nothing else. So, ditch your sports shoes while wearing elegant suits in a formal setting because Robert Downey Jr. might look good in them but you don’t.

Over the course of many years and still doing so, it has been ruining otherwise jaunty looks by making your feet seem bulky, heavy and unwilling…square. Especially don’t wear shoes with white socks! Instead, ditch them for a moderately pointed and classic rounded dress shoes.

Trying Too Hard with Overly Trendy Clothes

Sure, everyone wants to look up-to-date and relevant. Obviously, we can appreciate that effort. Although, it will make more sense if you consider what (time, occasion, place, etc.) you’re dressing for and understand that you probably don’t need to rock every runway trend from animal prints to joggers at every conceivable time. It looks like you’re trying way too hard and it can come off as insecure.
